1.2 G's in M5

Sorry for being late on this topic, just got through a pile of old postings.

Anyways, I think 1.2g's is certainly possible with the new M5, though not at
all likely in stock trim (read tires and alignment). I think 1.0 is
achievable.

In my '93 Rx-7TT in autocross trim I borrowed a friend's G-analyst and
regularly pulled 1.2g's on course. One of the car magazines had it at over
.9g's stock (with the Bridgestone S-01's that some came with, most measured
with the P-Zero's of later cars that werent as sticky). Can't remember if I
was running my Nationals A008RSII's or BFG R1's at the time. Only other
mods were shocks (Koni sports on full stiff rear, 1/4 turn off full stiff at
the front) and alignment (1.2 negative camber all around, max caster, 1/16"
toe in at the back, 1/16" out at the front).

My current E34 M5 (not exactly stock) is a little quicker on the track,
about 3mph off at the end of the straight at SIR (aero) but as good under
braking and a tad better in the corners, esp. exit. So I suspect it'll do
darn close to 1.2 g's, but that's with R1's (255/40/17's) and a non-stock
suspension.

This is running larger than stock tires, tires that are MUCH stickier than
stock (currently running S-02's on the street), and a suspension that just
doesn't lean when you throw the 3800-pound car around corners, as well as
letting me get enough negative camber for maximum cornering.
