As I re-read my post, it may not have been clear what I meant. The 318ti _did_
have the sport option, the 328i (E46) did _not_. Sorry for any confusion. Now
that I think of it, the only ti's I've driven had the sport package.

I gave up on them doing that a while back. I did e-mail BMW NA, for all the
good that did.
