I don't know about the rest of your post, but as far as the cruise control
switch goes, there shouldn't be any clicking in an e30.  It should be
springy, not clicky.  Have you used a properly functioning cruise on
another e30?  If you're certain that's the problem though, BavAuto
sells the stalk itself I'm sure.  The part number for your year isn't
listed in the catalog, unfortunately.  Sorry I can't be of more help.
