Muffler Help
I have never had good luck with Ansa exhaust. I had one on an '84 318i that I
had to replace about every 6 to 8 months because the welds broke at the front of
the muffler. I ended up replacing it will stock muffler.
If fact, I am in the process of replacing the after-market/performance muffler
on the '91 318i I recently purchased with a stock system. The BMW exhaust now
comes in 2 sections, the center muffler and rear muffler. I purchased rear
muffler (silencer) (part # 18 12 9 068 568), clamp bush (18 20 1 742 073), and
2 rubber rings (18 21 1 712 838) for about $190.00 from the local dealer. I
will drop the exhaust from the center muffler back and cut the pipe length to
fit the new rear muffler. I will also be replacing the straps that hold the
muffler since the PO shorted them to fit the after-market muffler.
Good Luck
