Probably a very good chance this is caused by a worn rear differential, in
which case you need a re-built. Slim chance this is caused by your
transmisson.
Your differential will continue to go for a long time, you will just have
to put up with the noise. Try a thicker gear oil.

Well, here's my problem. I recently purchased a '83 533 which runs and
looks
great. The only problem is that there is a distinct whine when I depress
the
gas pedal and shift up through the gears. The tone increases as the speed
increases.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also is there a SIG for 533's
