e28 dies after craking

 In Digest Vol 9 #13, Dave Imme wrote he had problems with his E 28 dying
after cranking.

Check your fault codes stored in the internal memory in the control unit. 
This can only be read by a special BMW service tester.  You have a Motronic
1.1 engine (a better generation) which has this memory ability.  
Also:  possibility of poor fuel,  But check the computer first.
