'98 540i Check engine light???

Hey folks,

My 10 month-old 540i sport just hit 10k the other day.  Its going in wednesday
for its first free scheduled 10,000 mile service.  Yesterday the "CHECK
ENGINE" light came on and is staying illuminated.  The manual says the car is
fine to drive and that this signifies an "emmissions" problem.  Is the warning
on just because my service indicator is in the red.  The car has 10,125 on it
now.
