735i no crank

Tonight 88 735i, which had been running fine, wouldn't crank after turning 
engine off to get gas. When key turned to crank, get a fast clicking sound, like 
relays opening and closing real fast, but nothing else. No movement of 
starter. Battery seems to be in proper state of charge, but haven't tested it under 
load yet. Any ideas? Thanks.
