RE: <E36> Requested: rear fog lights advice
I am not 100% sure about Belgium, but the UK, Germany, and France all
require at least 1 rear fog light. A velcro'd version would NOT be
acceptable. The conversion is fairly simple on most BMW's - just a matter
of enabling the function with the main lights, and - on an E28 for example -
putting a bulb in the 'empty' space in the tail light. Most garages in
Germany (right next door to Belgium) and the UK are fairly experienced at
installing this option - should cost much (my e28 from Canada cost me DM 40
three years ago - less than $25 US).
You may even be able to find a Euro-Spec taillight with the fog already
installed if yours doesn't have a provision for one. You may even be able to
get away with just turning on the Driver's side brake light continuously as
a rear fog - although they like to see a separate light (hence the separate
Brake / Turn Signals on the back of all Euro / Asian Cars).
Generally - on the Continent - where you drive on the right of the road - a
left hand drive vehicle (like North America) only one rear 'fog' is required
- on the drivers' side.
