David asks how to identify early/late bellhousings from the outside. Try
shining a flashlight through the opening for the clutch fork and try to see
the reverse switch. The early bellhousing has the switch attached to a
bracket which in turn is attached to the bellhousing with a screw. In the
later bellhousing, the switch is screwed into the cover in line with the
reverse shift rod.
