Alan- did you try cleaning and inspecting the cables and pulleys in there?
Others may recommend a better lube, but I suggest spray lithium base grease on
the pulleys and cables.  They do get dusty and hesitant after a few years.
Also, check for 12 volts at the plug-in to the window regulator motor when you
push the buttons, it may be an electrical problem of gummy switches.
