[alfa] brake balance

A couple of weeks ago I locked up the rear wheels of my GTV when I hit the
brakes to avoid a truck that pulled out in front of me. I was doing about 65
mph. There was a considerable amount of smoke visible in the rear view
mirror.

My tires are Dunlop SP A2's, about 1 year old with about 7000 miles on them
and I have sport springs and red Koni's on all round. I had changed the rear
pads a few days earlier while I changed out the axle. The front pads are not
as worn as the old rear pads so I left them alone. I am thinking that
differences in pad composition have produced a brake imbalance, but as I
know little about brakes, this is just a guess. I would appreciate comments
from folks who know more about this subject.
