Ahhh, so perhaps then the mechanical tensioner is a response to a market
(American) that demanded a fix for a device that leaks on a regular basis?
Given the problems with the mechanical ones, my preference is to simply
reuse and rebuild the hydraulic ones during every service. But it seems
like you can't get the rebuild kits over here anymore..
