Those are, indeed, interesting results.

I would have no doubt that it would be far easier to get cleaner emissions 
from steam power than a normal engine.  External combustion is just that 
way- the relative low combustion temp keeps NOx low, so you can run lean- 
low HC's and COs.  Heck, it probably would be cheaper to run them clean.

I'll have to try to find the paper.
