[alfa] Stebro or ANSA

I have a stock 1974 exhaust system on my Spider except for the
last "resonator" section where I replaced the Ansa one, which I had
previously installed, with a stainless steel Stebro. The Ansa one was a
twin tip and if you do the calculations for cross sectional area, you
will find that the Ansa "free flow" cross sectional area for the two
exhaust pipes, not the tips which are larger diameter, is less than the
stock system. The replacement section which I selected from Stebro is
the straight pipe section which has a highly polished tip and is straight
through with no change in diameter and it sounds absolutely GREAT!!!
Yet not quite loud enough to upset the "bears" or your own ears on
long rides.

Subject: [alfa] Stebro or ANSA

I currently have the following exhaust configuration on my '87 Alfa Spider
Quad Verde.

IAP tubular headers>>>cat. conv.>>>straight pipe>>>ANSA resonator. (I
removed
the center muffler to change the exhaust note and I like it.)

However, the ANSA resonator (bought new and not that old) has rusted through
and impinging on the gas tank. Can't get an inspection sticker with it this
way.

So... Does anyone have experience with the Stebro stainless resonator??? I
know they are about $60 more than the ANSA. How do they sound? Is the
stainless really rust-free because not all stainless is? Is the tip chromed
like the ANSA?

Thanks to all for your help.
