Well... many interesting replies on how to put in a bypass valve.

Seems a little lubrication and it's much easier than it looks.. (keeping mouth firmly shut)

I seem to not have a new one, guess they were on back order long ago when I bought
the rest of the hoses.. One thing I've noticed, there was a mention of a Euro bypass,
as well as a regular bypass at one of the usual vendors.. guess I'll have to ask that.
The prices are all so cheap, they probably don't contain any valves. And to Biba..
nice try, but I'll be keeping the one I have. ;-)

I also seem to remember reading something like replacing a missing bypass with a metal cap
with a hole drilled in it? I don't know if this would be a better than nothing compromise, or
a bad idea. It seems that the overall functioning of the bypass occurs during the warming period, and that possibly it's more for allowing high flow in the pre opening period, but giving
some backpressure for better heater core flow before the car is up to temp and the thermostat
is open. (and at the same time blocking off the bypass) So possibly a inbetween sized hole might be a good compromise, but of course the original "pressure variable" sized hole function would be best.

Thoughts?
