Re: [alfa] Rocker panel diagnosis?

Skip, that sounds quite a reasonable hypothesis to me.

My first Alfa was a 116GTV and with one wheel jacked clear of the floor the
doors and bootlid were noticeably awkward to close as they hit the lock
strikers. This car was in perfect structural condition yet would settle
evenly onto 4 jack stands placed under the jacking points on a less than
level garage floor.

Later I had a '76 116GT which had a 1/2 cage fitted and the added rigidity
meant that the car would only settle on 3 jack stands simultaneously and
would actually teeter across the lower two.

I'd guess that the diagonal dimensional change of the GTV body on a single
jack was in the order of 1" to 1-1/2". The spider, being devoid of a roof
is probably worse. Add a rough road, an exuberant Alfisti, and some loose
door/trunk/bonnet hinges.............
