The cylinder you describe is indeed called the clutch master cylinder.
(There is a second located inside the car under the dash but is called the
clutch pump for some reason. Assuming your diagnosis is correct, R/R is
fairly straight forward. If you don't have a manual (recommended) follow
the logic of what needs to be removed to access the unit. After
disconnecting the supply hose, remove the cylinder and its support as a
unit. A circlip secures the MC to the support. If the hose will only be
open a few hours, a thin rubber glove tightly wrapped and secured with a
tie of some sort will do. There are plugs available for this - they are the
same as your brake caliper plumbing. Bleeding is straight forward. Use
new fluid, bleed until no bubbles and secure.
