[alfa] relocating to D.C., Northern VA?

I'm considering relocating to the D.C. or northern VA area to be closer to my
kids and would appreciate input from any digesti concerning housing, culture,
Alfa activities, etc.  Fortunately, my job can move with me so I won't be job
hunting - just looking for affordable housing.  The kids are in Potomac, MD
and I could live up to 1 hr. away (maybe Winchester?) to make it more
affordable.  I would especially like to meet up with someone from the area in
one of my frequent trips up there to make some Alfa contacts and get some idea
of the local scene.  I'm currently in Hampton, VA and have good references,
Alfa and otherwise.  Sorry about this use of bandwidth but what better bunch
of people to ask?  Responses off digest, please.
