I don't take my '84 Spider out in the rain very often, but I've been caught 
once or twice and was quite happy with my Pirelli P400 Touring tires, in the 
OEM size. No matter where you buy your tires, check out tirerack.com first. 
They have a boatload of info and user reports. Before I bought the Pirellis, 
I think I compared them against Yokohama Avids and Michelin whatevers (can't 
remember the model, but it was an equivalent touring tire). The Pirellis had 
the best combination of wet and dry handling, not to mention bang for the 
buck.
