Re: [alfa] Re: 86 spide no start after rebuild
Charlie,
Thanks for the info. Your suggestion is basically what I ended up doing and
(Hallelujah!) the flywheel is on correctly. I lined up the distributor
rotor at TDC on #1 and then rotated the crank 180 degrees. Then removed the
flywheel cover plate and marked on the front of the flywheel where the
reference mark should be if the flywheel was on correctly. Removed the
reference point sensor and moved the flywheel tooth by tooth to the point
where the mark should be and there it was. Whew!
I think there is a loose or bad connection in the various Motronic hook ups.
Twice after checking/moving wires, first around the coil and then back by
the ground attachments, the engine fired and ran for a few seconds. I am
suspecting that maybe one of the grounds is in the wrong place. Any likely
suspects of the various connections? Which one would cause a no-start
condition?
Also, when I check for pressure at the rail, I only saw pressure when I
cranked the engine - is this correct? In other words, I don't feel the fuel
pump running when the key is in the on position but engine is running. This
is how the V6 Motronic is set up.
Thanks,
Don
