[alfa] RE: 164 status

Richard -

Yes, you need to check to verify that the fuel pump is getting power. You
will need some one inside the car to help you.

Check for voltage at the fuel pump wiring while the key is held in the
'crank' position. Remember the fuel pump only gets energized during cranking
and when the engine is actually running.

If there is no juice there, then check the fuses, wiring and fuel pump
relay. I'm sure there is one somewhere, possibly along with a 'main' relay
that often times powers the fuel pump relay among other things.

You can also disconnect the fuel pump and energize it directly and see if it
comes to life. Just be careful as sparks and fuel don't mix well ...

LMK if you need any further help as you dig deeper into it.

ok, so i finally got a schrader valve based scca fuel test port to put in
the fuel line, which happens to be the same thing you'd use to test fuel
pressure. tried to start the 164, no fuel pressure at all, zip, nothing.

so i guess i need to look at the electrical connections to the pump before
declaring the pump itself dead, right? anything else to look at?
