Many years ago, my pivot arm broke.  A machinest friend of mine offered
to fix it, and used some kind of soldering solution, he poured it into
the joint and it flowed inside, not just along the edges.  He promised
me it would last forever, and almost 20 years later it's holding up
fine.

I honestly don't know any details other than that, I'd be curious if any
of the metallurgists out there can comment on this method, or fill in
the missing details.
