RE: source for 40W synthetic oil
I use Mobil 0-40W in my wife's VW Passat 1.8l turbo. I was only able to
find it at Auto Zone until my last trip to WalMart, who had not previously
carried that viscosity. It was $4.77 per quart.

I don't know where to get it near you, but Mobil 1 does make a
0-40W. That's what I have in my Boxster. I'll bet you can get it at a
Porsche dealership - if you're willing to mortgage your house for an oil
change.
