Yes, I asked the importer about that and got a very specific answer. The
engines were removed before shipping, and the rolling chassis and the power
plant MUST be shipped separately. Actually he said they must be shipped in
different containers. Then upon arrival they can be reassembled, but as Eric
mentioned, to be tagged, they must meet the OH emission requirements. After
that, you're set.
So, I'm wondering in FL where we have no yearly emissions checking if you
could bring an Alfa in like that, and then just take it to the Tax Collector
for them to check the VIN. Hummm, it can't be that easy.

I can't tell you how many pieces, but I do know of a Lotus Elise and
a TVR Griffith here in the Cincinnati area that are "kit cars,"
having been imported in boxes.
