Re: The end of Autodelta?

From: Luca <nodoubt@domain.elided>

All the attorney in this digest should offer free legal support to these guys.
Seen from HERE they didn't defrauded the government, they helped & supported
passion and the love for REAL cars.

You're way off target, Luca. It's not the US gummint which is the
alleged victim of fraud but the people who bought the cars.

I have been told that all 20 cars have been seized by US Customs and the
issue revolves around whether these cars were legally imported. The cars
are not being picked upon, as you are tempted to see it, by overzealous
officials because they are rebadged Alfas but because the US says they
have not been imported legally.

Consider that brands as BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, Maserati and all the japanese brands
are sold here and there, and the vehicle are the same. I don't see any reason why Alfas
couldn't be safe over there.

There is no reason beyond the fact that FIAT has to go through the hoops
to comply with the same regs. just as it did with Ferrari and Maserati.
FIAT hasn't done this for the simple reason that it's not just the cost
of emission and crash testing and certification but also the cost of
reestablishing marketing and support. That's why there was this deal
between FIAT and GM to jointly relaunch Alfa.

You american guys should fight to support 'em!!!

Put the banners away! - this doesn't look to be that kind of a cause.

Imagine that the times you all wrote here some mails about having spotted a new alfa
around the american highways... probably... the emotion you felt came from these two
guys, father and son.

Imagine the emotion you would feel when Customs agents come round to
impound your shiny new car!
