re: Shredded Shroud, Broken Fan, Motor Mount?

Dimitri,
Motor mounts usually don't show any cracks or obvious breaks, the just
sag away slowly without any signs. And that is what has happened to
you. Can you fit a finger between the main engine pulley and the front
anti-sway bar? If not, then your mounts needs to be replaced. The fact
that your fan is hitting the shroud is classic indicator of shot motor
mounts. And motor mounts cannot be adjusted at all - one position fits all.

Changing the mounts isn't a hard job but on Bosch FI engines (which is
what you have) the passenger's side is a Real PITA due to all the stuff
in the way. The driver's side is a breeze, about 30 minutes or so.
Paul Spruell sells reinforced motor mounts that you should get because
once you do this job, you'll never want to do it again. They might cost
more but are well worth it.

If you are interested in doing this, let me know and I'll send you some instructions.
