RE: Replace SPICA Belt W/O Removing Crank Pulley
Yes, it is possible to do without removing the crank pulley, although you
will probably want to remove the radiator and fan shroud to make more room.
When timing the pump, set the engine to #4 TDC (ignition rotor pointing to
#4, both valves on #4 closed - this can be verified by looking down the
spark plug hole(s) with a flashlight) then rotate the engine backwards
(counterclockwise when viewed from the front) to the 'I' mark.
I don't know what the recommended time interval is specifically for the
Spica belt ... but, generally the consensus seems to be 5 years for timing
belts on cars that don't get driven that often. If you have it apart anyway,
and the belt has been on there awhile I'd throw a new one at it, they don't
cost all that much.

Subject: Replace SPICA Belt W/O Removing Crank Pulley
Is it possible to replace the SPICA pump belt without removing the crank
pulley? I think I did remove the crank pulley the last time I changed the
belt but
that was because I was changing the water pump at the same time. 1750,
pusher
fan. Also, is the "I" mark on the crank pulley accurate? (SPICA timing mark)
What is the recommended change interval for these belts? The one on there
looks good but I figured I ought to change it while I have the SPICA
pulley/belt
cover off.
