I once had a Scirocco with nothing but an electric radiator fan. Unknown to 
me the fuse blew and it overheated in traffic. Warped the head and valve 
guides. What with the state of Alfa Romeo electronics it is better to have the 
mechanical fan as a main cooling source in case the electronics go down.
