164 Synchro Problems

Dear Digest:
 
I have a 91'-164 that blew a clutch spring while I was in third gear.
Replaced clutch, bearings, etc. while it was out but noticed on the test
drive that now it grinds a bit when shifting into third gear.  Did I
screw up the third gear synchro when the clutch went? If so, is it
easier to replace the whole tranny than rebuild? If I just grind it for
awhile, how long will it last? Anyone on the west coast with a 164
tranny for sale? Enough, already.
