Instead of mixing the fine sand in with the epoxy, use glass beads.  The
kind you buy in 50# bags to do bead-blasting.  It doesn't take much, maybe a
pound per gallon (be sure to stir thoroughly), and you will get a surface
that is non-skid when wet, but not abrasive to the skin when dry.
