Dessicant and a plastic bag is a great idea, but I'd wrap the components in
brown paper first.  Just keeps the dessicant from direct contact (it is a
salt after all).  This is basically how aircraft parts are packed, albeit
with special paper.

Some hot bag sealers incorporate a vacuum tube to evacuate the bag during
sealing.
