I only knew Fred via the Alfa Digest but I certainly respected his knowledge 
and willingness to help.

It was said that one didn't belong to the Alfa Digest until Fred had replied 
to your post with his ALL-CAP, wise, and sometimes gruff - but always correct 
- answer.

I wonder how we'll initiate the Alfa Digest newbies now that Fred's gone?

I'll certainly miss him.
