Dear Alfisti,

I have known Fred for 25+ years and we have been friends for the better part of that time. When we joined him for one of his famous tours to Italy in 1980 our luggage was misdirected. Anna loaned my wife clothes to wear until Fred could figure out where they had sent our stuff. Our luggage would probably still be in Italy if it weren't for Fred. There are more stories to tell; but not now.

We served together on the AROC board for many years. We disagreed many times. Some times he would come over to my side and sometimes I would see it his way. Sometimes we just agreed to disagree. In all that time, Fred always had the benefit of the AROC or the individual Alfa owner in mind. Men like Fred don't come along very often; and we and the future caretakers of our Alfas have benefited from his life.

Tonight I am going to slip a glass of Vecchia Romagna in Fred's memory; and tomorrow at ten I will go to the garage with my Alfas and reflect on Fred and Anna's lives and how much I have gained from knowing them.
