Yes, they should auto park.
There is a wiper and cam arrangement inside the wiper motor itself that takes
the power from the "always hot" wire, runs the motor to the park position then
breaks contact and the motor stops. You will have to take the motor housing
apart to see what ails it.

Couple of windshield wiper questions for my 67 GTV. (Thanks to those who
already replied...just need the finishing touches)
Should they self (auto) park? If so how does it work? The wiring is
there, but they don't self-park and I don't see any mechanism for how
they could. Is it all internal to the motor or is there some kind of
microswitch arrangemnt on the rack?
