Re: GTV No-Start Help

Ralph, I ran into this on a 1300 Jr. that only sat for a few months. The
rings had gone dry and lost their seal and thereby, no compression.
I Dumped some (technical term again) oil thru the sparkplug hole into each
cylinder, cranked it over a few times, installed the plugs and the darned
thing ran! I would guess that you need at least 80 PSI cranking compression
to get one to start.
If you crank it long enough, you may build up enough oil pressure to wet the
cylinder walls and rings, but I doubt it.

Subject: GTV no Start Follow up

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for the suggestions. I just did a compression test and I have
only 40 lbs in all cylinders! I guess this is to low for a start
condition? Anybody have any ideas what can cause this? Bad Head? Bad
Rings?

Thanks,
Ralph DeLauretis
