F to C and vice versa

As we live close to the US we are bilingual when it comes to metric v standard units.

A F degree is 5/9 of a Celsius degree and the scales are offset by 32 F degrees ie freezing is 0 C and 32 F.

So the formula for F to C is the degrees in C multiplied by 9, divided by 5 and plus 32 to equalize the scale. So 40 C is around 104 F for example.

Reverse procedure is F degrees minus 32 divide by 9 and multiply by 5.

If exact is not required then assume each C degree is 2 F degrees and you're close enough except at the hot end of the scale.

In Canada we also remember that minus 40 degrees is the same temperature on either scale: f'ing cold!

Cheers
