RE: '85 Spider Fan/Engine Mount



Check the water pump for any looseness in the bearings. There should be
virtually no play in the pulley. I've seen the both the fans and water pumps
fail at about the same time.

Don't know if the fan being out of balance kills the water pump, or the
water pump bearings failing lead to the incredible exploding fan. I tend to
think the former ...

Then again this is one of those: "yeah they do that sometimes" kind of
thing.

Personally, I'd replace the shroud although they don't really seem to make
that much difference as I've seen many cars living happily without them.

My fan exploded. Fred suggested checking the engine mounts.  They seem fine.
Engine does not move when shaken by hand or by reving engine.  Any
suggestions?
Should I bother replacing the fan shroud which was destroyed by the fan?
