Cam timing question: 2L engine
Well, I tried to keep the process as simples as possible. For my first job
valve clearance adjustment, I followed Pat Braden's suggestion of simply
moving the cams without loosing their position on the driving chain.
Due to a mistake (the chain moved from its original position at the
intermediate sprocket), I will have to do all the process of retiming the
cams. So, here are my questions;
1) The famous lock tab on the cam, which should be not reused, where I can buy
such a thing? May I reuse it in the real world ? Is it a generic lock tab ?
(you have to understand that I am in Northern Quebec, Northern America.Far
away from any Alfa previous dealer and shop)
2) With the VVT on the intake cam, how I adjust this cam. I suppose I will
have to put it at the right timing and adjust the cam timing only on the
exhaust cam, is it right ?
3) To remove all the play at the crankshaft, I have to put the engine at TDC
while roiling slowly the car forward in 4th speed. Is it right ?
Thanks all
