I suspect that part of the answer to this puzzle is that there are more and
better outlets to sell an Alfa and the "-do-that-again factor" that some of
us have experienced.

In the Washington, DC area there is perhaps one Alfa  a month in the
classifieds.  But there are many other sites such as the chapter
newsletters,  AROC newsletter, Alfaclassifieds.com, auto trader, eBay, that
have a much wider reach at lower costs and the added benefit of reaching
serious buyers, which brings me to the second point.

Too many times have I advertised an Alfa in the newspaper only to generate
calls from people who had little knowledge or appreciation for the marque.

I am not too unhappy with the status-quo.
