With a touch up gun, you should be able to dial it down to a very small
pattern and meter the paint on in thin layers. You should use a stiff sanding
block when sanding out smooth. If you get waves, you may be using too fine of
paper at first, or perhaps not a stiff block. Dont be afraid to sand away the
"shoulder" of the chip.
