melting point higher then Platinum, electrical resistance lower then
platinum. This may allow the use of a projected electrode where a
non-projected nose was necessary with a lower melting point electrode

They have gained favor in the "import tuner" crowd. You know the Mitsu.
Eclipse and Honda B20B's with turbo blowing at 3+ bar and 785 Hp at the
flywheel. They last longer in these extreme engine conditions. That
creates a market by allowing the guy in the street to use the same spark
plug as his hero in the track Now every Eclipse and Supra boy racer has
to have his Iridium plugs in his street engine. To each his own , they
can be very fine plugs.
