Well that's not just changing the timing belt is it? Are you suggesting they all have a 30k mi service interval and would be replaced at every timing belt change? Even so I don't see how you blame the timing belt for the short service life of other components. Compare apples to apples.

2 valve cover gaskets and 6 spark plug well seals were $49 when I just bought them.
