While you're doing all of this, esp. if you're shaving the head and/or
using high-compresion pistons, is to also check the piston-to-head
clearance, which will be least at the rim (the squish area).  Cold,
figure 1-1.5mm of clearance is acceptable.  More is OK, too, unless
it's over 3mm, in which case you're doing something wrong, or you're
trying to build an 8:1 turbo engine.  Less than 1mm and you're risking
the pistons kissing the head when hot at high revs.
