Re: LED "bulbs" for Spider tail lights
Paul Witek makes some good points about LED taillight bulbs. My
experiments with LED 1156/1157 substitutes from AutoZone about a year
ago proved that yes, directionality and low output are problems.
Those units cost a few dollars apiece.
However, nothing on the shelf at AutoZone is actually designed to
work. If you want to bring the benefits of LED lighting to your
aging Alfa you can get high-quality "bulbs" designed for that
purpose. For example, http://netdisty.net/ds/aut1157/. (
http://netdisty.net/ds/AUT1157RI may be be more appropriate for some
Alfas.) IIRC, these cost about $40 each, but they address all of
Paul's concerns.
