1600 vs. 1750 question

The 1750 block is taller due to the added stroke. A bit of welding of
oil passages and milling on the Spica front cover and you should be able to
make it look like the 1600 front cover. Finding a European 1750 front cover
might be hard.
The crankshaft snouts are all the same as far as I can tell. The 1300
and 1600 crankshaft pulley / harmonic balancer is smaller diameter than the
1750 & 2000. The early pulleys will under drive the water pump and
alternator. As a racer, you should be familiar with underdrive pulleys and
be able to select the proper pulley for your requirements.
For what it is worth, the 1750 has a larger pulley on the alternator
than the later 2000. I guess the later Alfas with air conditioning and other
electrical requirements used a smaller pulley to turn the alternator faster
and put out more current.
