Re: spider top leaking

Hi Wayne:

Join the club. Not only does my top leak around the rear window, but also behind the side windows, and above the side windows, and on the corners of the header, too. The material is also delaminating on about 20% - 30% of the top. That is, the 3 layers are beginning to separate, and there are wrinkles forming on the outside, but not on the inside, and vice-versa. Maybe we're living in an alternate universe, because when I bought the top someone <insert Ed's name here> told me that these tops fit perfect, are made of the best materials, never leak, and have never had any warranty claims filed. I think there was also something mentioned about only making $11 profit on each top, and that we should all consider it a privilege to own one. FWIW, the top's been on my '74 Spider about 18 months, and it had all these problems from new (the delamination is spreading, though), not to mention the poor fit because the pattern is just too small. The moral of the story is "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and I'm Caribou's best customer."

Regards,

Dean

Subject: spider top leaking

Hey Y'all,

I have a Caribou top on my 86 Alfa Spider, special ordered, light tan. Lately
when it rains the canvas that the window seals against wicks water past the
top of the window and drips inside, a lot. Has anyone ever had this problem?
What did you do to fix it?

Thanks,
Wayne Abbott
