Re: V6 mechanical tensioner

I must confess that I have a spare hydraulic unit ready to go which I am thinking about retro-fitting at the next belt service interval.

can this be done? conceptually, i prefer the hydraulic tensioner and would
go back to it if i had the option. a previous owner did the mechanical
conversion, and i'd been under the impression there was no going back.
It's not trivial. The mechanical conversion procedure plugs up the oil-feed hole. It is rather difficult to undo this modification.

But you can re-install it without the oil feed. This effectively converts the hydrualic unit into a static tensioner. It's certainly more authentic looking than Zat's crude but effective contraption.
