OK, here it is... your chance to get the Ugliest Alfetta Sedan ever!  I got 
it through the alfa club newsletter for Martin Swig's double 500 (500 
kilometers in a sub-$500 car)... It was delivered to Los Angeles from Santa 
Barbara by the p.o., ran faultlessly to SF and through most of the  2x500, 
until it shed an injection drive belt near Laytonville.  (Great car for the 
event, I'm pretty sure it was both the ugliest car there, and the 
best-driving....)   Undaunted, we took care of the belt, and made the car 
available for Ian to use for the last two days of the California Melee 
(coming out of Fort Bragg through Laytonvlle) when his very beautiful car was 
clobbered the night before the event.  Now donated (see below)  to Volunteers 
of America, ready for a bidding frenzy when all the digesti show up to slug 
it out with the denizens of the Melee!  (Careful, though, as Ian points out, 
the bidding could soar into three figures if you lose your head...)  Parts? 
Next year's 2x500? Transportation? Or just to amaze your friends and annoy 
your neighbors?  Somebody's gotta do it!

Hey Gang,

Dan Rhodes' stunning red/white/rust/black 76 Alfetta sedan is being picked
up today, and will appear at the Volunteers of America auction shortly.  It
will either be at this Saturday or next Saturday's auction at 7531 San
Leandro Blvd in Oakland.

Please buy it so I don't.  I don't need another project... and don't have
space for it.  But it runs soooo good.  "Ugly it is yes, but so good it
runs." as Yoda would say.

Call 510-567-1114 for more details about the auction.  They might have it
ready to go this week, but most likely it will appear next week.

There's a $25 processing fee, and a $100 deposit is required day of the
auction if you win.  I can't imagine that this bad boy will go for much more
than low three figures.
