RE: Spica car misfire

Erik-
You mention that the problem is not worse at full throttle, but is it worse
at high RPMs?
A high RPM miss can be caused by fuel pump/fuel pressure problems.

Have you read Wes Ingram's book ? The fuel pressure warning light is a very
useful and important indication of the health of the fuel system. One should
always make sure that the warning light is functioning properly as
relatively brief periods of starving the Spica pump can have long-term
negative consequences.

I use a newer type Bosch fuel pump in my GTV and its pretty darn noisy.
That's not necessarily a bad thing as I've gotten used to the sound it makes
when it's getting plenty of gas v. when the filter is getting clogged. When
I first turn the key in the morning, the tone of the pump changes at about
the same time as the warning light goes out.

I finally got tired of constantly replacing rear filters on my car and
removed the gas tank and sent it to GasTank Renu (sp?). Now the yearly
filter change is all that's required.
